Avoiding Disciplinary Actions for Physical and Occupational Therapists

Therapy Comply, a leading physical and occupational therapy education and compliance firm, will be presenting a webinar on disciplinary actions by the Executive Council of Physical and Occupational Therapy in Texas on September 12th at 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM CDT.  The course will discuss the latest disciplinary actions the board has taken against PTs and OTs, and how therapists can learn from these actions and implement better compliance programs in practice.  The course will include documentation and supervision best practices as governed by Texas law and payer requirements.  Finally, the course will discuss how to develop and implement policies and procedures at your practice. 

The webinar will cover the following topics:

Recent Board Disciplinary Actions

  • The facts and outcome of each case;
  • The applicable law/rule;
  • How to avoid the violation; and
  • How to integrate the lessons into practice

  • Payer requirements for supervision  

Developing and Implementing Policies and Procedures

  • Developing policies and procedures that comply with the law and best practices

Speaker: Zachary Edgar JD, LLM is the lead consultant for Therapy Comply.  Zachary is healthcare attorney who specializes in state healthcare regulatory issues particularly for physical and occupational therapy practices.  Zachary has spent the last five years as in-house council for a physical therapy management company where he handled a wide variety of healthcare legal issues including: federal and state healthcare fraud and abuse laws, state professional and facility licensing issues, HIPAA, employment issues, and Medicare and Medicaid compliance.  Zachary obtained his BA and JD from the University for Arizona and an LLM in healthcare law from Loyola University.
