Alaska Medicaid OT and OTA Enrollment

Occupational Therapists

    • Individuals who have an active occupational therapy license from the Alaska State Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Board to practice occupational therapy and may enroll with Alaska Medical Assistance.
    • Enrolled OTs may receive reimbursement for covered medical services provided to eligible recipients.
    • OTs who wish to enroll as part of a professional group or therapy center must first enroll individually.

Occupational Therapy Assistants

    • Individuals who have an active license from the Alaska State Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Board to practice as an OTA may enroll with Alaska Medical Assistance.
    • Enrolled OTAs must be supervised by a licensed OT who is currently enrolled with Alaska Medical Assistance.
    • Enrolled OTAs must be affiliated as a rendering-only provider with a health professional group or outpatient therapy center.  The group or therapy center must have at least one enrolled OT.
      • Services rendered by an enrolled OTA must be billed by the group identifying the OTA as the rendering provider; OTAs may not bill directly for services.
      • Payment for the OTA will be made to the group or therapy center; the OTA cannot be paid directly.
