Physical Therapists

• Individuals who have an active occupational license from the Alaska State Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Board to practice physical therapy may enroll with Alaska Medical Assistance.
• Enrollment PTs may receive reimbursement for covered medical services to eligible recipients.
• PTs who wish to enroll as part of a group or therapy center must first enroll individually.

Physical Therapy Assistants

• Individuals who have an active license from the Alaska State Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Board to practice as an PTA may enroll with Alaska Medical Assistance.
• Enrolled PTAs must be supervised by a licensed PT who is currently enrolled with Alaska Medical Assistance.
• Enrolled PTAs must be affiliated as a rendering-only provider with a health professional group or outpatient therapy center.  The group or therapy center must have at least one enrolled PT.
• Services rendered by an enrolled PTA must be billed by the group or therapy center identifying the PTA as the rendering provider; PTAs may not bill directly for services.
• Payment for the PTA will be made to the group or therapy center; the PTA cannot be paid directly.
