Arizona Occupational Therapy License Exemptions

Federal Employee

A person employed as an OT or OTA by the United States or any agency of the United States, if that person provides occupational therapy solely under the direction or control of the agency that employs that person.

Student

A person pursuing a supervised course of study leading to a degree or certificate in occupational therapy at an accredited or approved educational program pursuant to section 32-3404, if the person is designated by a title that clearly indicates the person's status as a student or trainee.

Supervised Fieldwork

A person fulfilling the supervised fieldwork experience requirements of section 32-3423, if the experience constitutes a part of the fieldwork experience necessary to meet the requirements of section 32-3423.

Short-term Visit

A person performing occupational therapy services in this state for purposes of continuing education, consultation or training, if these services are performed for no more than a cumulative total of sixty (60) days in a calendar year in association with an OT licensed in Arizona, if either of the following is true:

    • The person is licensed as an OT or OTA in good standing in another state.
    • The person is certified by the national board for certification in occupational therapy, incorporated.
